The General Plan Process
Creating the city General Plan will take several years. The process began with the City Council appointing a 17-member Steering Committee in January 2007, to guide and oversee the process. (Members of the Steering Committee are listed to the left.) This committee will hold meetings, forums and events to gather input and to create a community vision for St. Helena.
Phase I - Community Visioning Process - Completed May 2008!
The purpose of Visioning is to consider the futire of the town, and the changes that have and that are taking place since the last plan was adpoted. Multiple methods of gaining input will be used to create a long-term vision of what residents want for St. Helena's future. These efforts and events are listed on this site on the Events and Contact pages.
Phase II - General Plan Update - June 2008-June 2010
It may be that some of the elements of the 1993 plan need only mior updates while others need major revisions, or additional elements may need to be developed. As we compare the Vision and community wide goals created n Phase I, with the existing adopted plan, we will being to idetify and address the sope of work needed in Phase II. Each topic, issue or element will be explored for existing conditions, goals, and implementing strategies or actions.
